Are you ready to get more involved in your Republican Party?
Yes, there is more to the Iowa Caucuses other than the U.S. Presidential nomination process. The Iowa Caucus is held every two years and is a unique way for members of the Republican party to have their voice in the political system.
The 2020 Iowa Caucuses will be held Monday, Feb. 3rd, starting promptly at 7:00 pm
What happens at the caucus? In addition to casting a vote for president, the caucuses serve as a launch pad for grassroots activism.
This official business includes:
- Electing county Republican central committee members.
- Electing delegates, alternate delegates, and junior delegates to the county convention
- Discussing, submitting, and voting on platform planks to the county convention that could be added by the Iowa Republican Party at the district and state conventions.
Following the precinct caucus, an additional three tiers of conventions will be held, moving grassroots delegates and platform proposals from the precinct level to the county, congressional district, and state conventions. If you are interested in participating in the work of the Republican Party of Iowa, consider running for delegate to the county convention!
The county convention will be on Saturday, March 14 at 9:00 am at the Malcom Auditorium in Malcom, IA.
If you are unsure of which precinct or ward that you belong to, visit the Iowa Secretary of State website to use the query to find your precinct or view the Poweshiek County Precinct Map.
